The change of agrochemical industry

Agrochemical (or agrichemical), a contraction of agricultural chemical. In most cases, agrichemical refers to the broad range of pesticides, including insecticides, herbicides, and bulk fungicides. It may also include synthetic fertilizers, hormones and other chemical growth agents, and concentrated stores of raw animal manure.

With the development, the agricultural industry has changed over the last 10 years. It used to be focused on increasing the world food supply.
But now it also focuses on the quality of the food supply, for example, the healthy oils program promoting high-oleic, no-trans-fats oils.
Companies in the sector are now counting on R&D to keep their pipelines of new products well-filled because, just as for drug companies, a full pipeline is key to the health and growth of the agchem industry.

Though it works more like pharmaceutical industry, there is diference.Such as:
"We can test directly for the effect we want. We can test immediately on plants, fungi, and insects in agchem industry, but we can't do that in pharma."
